Terra Kulture Arts and Studios Limited is an educational and recreational organisation set up in 2003 to promote the richness and diversity of Nigerian languages, arts and culture. Located in a corner of Victoria Island, it is home to a restaurant, a craft shop, a library, a language school and theatre and its central feature; the art gallery. Inspired by Bolanle Austen-Peters, the idea for the establishment of Terra Kulture came from a need to have a cultural hub for the preservation of Nigerian culture.
In its 11 years of existence Terra Kulture has organised over 200 art exhibitions , 135 plays, 65 book readings and over 10,000 individual adults and children, as well as school trips, have attended our language classes. In 2009 Terra Kulture established the Terra Kulture Auction house and has organised numerous art auctions in Lagos and Abuja.
With several things to do at Terra Kulture you can be sure to be fully engaged when you visit; there’s the trip to the restaurant which specialises in indigenous Nigerian dishes after which you can head over to the craft shop and pick up a souvenir. The main attraction however is the art galleries which should ideally be visited on the weekends to partake in the full experience. Some annual events at Terra Kulture include art auctions held all year round and the Taruwa Festival of Performing arts usually held in January.
